Greetings from Minister Lekstrom
The Vancouver Maritime Arbitrators Association, (VMAA), is delighted to invite you to the International Congress of Maritime Arbitrators, ICMA XVIII, to be held at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Vancouver British Columbia, Canada, May 13 -- 18, 2012.
The maritime industry continues to lead the world in international alternate dispute resolution through arbitration. Since 1972 ICMA has provided a forum for arbitrators, national maritime arbitration associations, marine insurers, ship owners, charterers, cargo interests and the legal community from around the world to come together to exchange views and developments. After 21 years ICMA returns to Vancouver in 2012.
The Topics and Agenda committee has an informative and exciting Congress Programme well under way. This site will be continually updated so do check back regularly.
As a recent addition to our Congress Programme, we are delighted to announce that the Honorable Robert J. Bauman, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, will be delivering a welcoming address at the Opening Ceremony on May 14. Chief Justice Bauman, after a distinguished career as a leading practitioner, was appointed as a Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia in 1996 and was then appointed Chief Justice in 2009.

In addition to the substantive programme, Vancouver as a host city has much to offer. For example:
